on country's soil

Pakistan's government for the first time confirms the presence of Afghanistan's Taliban leadership, known as the Quetta Shura, on the country's soil.
Defense Minister, Ahmad Mukhtar, in an exclusive interview with DawnNews, said on Friday that security forces have dealt a severe blow on the Quetta Shura
and that it no longer can pose any threat.
The top US Commander in Afghanistan, General Stanley McChrystal, had informed last Friday, the US fears the top Taliban leadership was in Quetta —
Balochistan province's capital — master-minding attacks on international forces in Afghanistan.
Confirming McChrystal's allegations, the US consul-general in Peshawar said the same day that they do not know where Osama bin Laden is, but said, "We
do know that some of the al-Qaeda leadership is sitting in Quetta and that they travel back and forth from Afghanistan to Pakistan."
"We know that they are there. And I think your government also knows this. Whether they want to say this in public or not but I think they know they are there,"
Candace Putnam added.
However, until this revelation by Pakistan's defense minister, Islamabad had denied the existence of any Taliban leadership or the Quetta Shura in
Balochistan.

LAHORE: The ‘Quetta Shura’ is no longer a threat to Pakistan as security forces have “significantly damaged it”, a private TV channel quoted Defence
Minister Ahmed Mukhtar as saying on Friday.
Talking to the channel, Mukhtar said that security forces had taken on the ‘Quetta Shura’ and had damaged it to such an extent that it no longer posed any
threat to the country.
A recent report by General Stanley McChrystal, the top US commander in Afghanistan, alleged that the top Taliban leadership was in Quetta and that it was
planning attacks on international forces in Afghanistan.
The government had so far denied the existence of the Taliban leadership or the existence of the ‘Quetta Shura’ in Balochistan’s capital.
The defence minister’s statement is the first admission to the existence of the top Afghan Taliban leadership in Balochistan.

acts of terrorism across the country. “They are dirty people, and according to Islamic injunctions it is unlawful to offer funeral prayers for suicide attackers,”
Malik said. He said around 76 terrorists who planned to carry out attacks in Islamabad were in the custody of law enforcement agencies. tahir niaz
Pakistan Defence Minister Admits Presence of Afghan Taliban in Balochistan But he insists 'Quetta Shura' No Threat to Pakistan. So what are they exactly
doing there?? Making tea for the minister?? or plaining attack on NATO and afghna forces??

In late September, the Pakistani government promised to block a threatened American attack against the Balochistan Province’s capital city of Quetta and
Interior Minister Rehman Malik insisted the Quetta Shura, America’s ostensible reason for the attack, didn’t even exist.
Fast forward two and a half months and Defense Minister Ahmad Mukhtar bragged about on-going security forces operations against the very same Quetta
Shura, insisting that they have been damaged to the point they are no longer a threat.
The Quetta Shura was the supposed organization made up of the leadership of the Afghan Taliban, which is accused of directing much of the ongoing
insurgency in Afghanistan from the Baloch city.
Yet despite Minister Mukhtar’s claims, there have been no reports of any significant security operations going on in Quetta in the past several months. It
seems hard to imagine the government, so busy with its South Waziristan offensive, managed to conduct massive operations against such a highly
secretive organization in one of the nation’s largest cities without somebody noticing before today’s announcement.
Situation returning to normalcy in Balochistan, says Malik
ISLAMABAD (SANA): Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said that the situation in Balochistan is returning towards normalcy within the days as the
government’s has initiated practical step to address their problems.
In an interview, he said that two hundred and sixty two missing persons have been found. One hundred and sixty four out of them have returned to their
homes.
He said the Chief Minister Balochistan had given a list of seven hundred and eighty five missing persons while fifty seven have returned to their homes. He
said another forty persons who are involved in heinous crimes have been freed.
Malik said that on the directives of the Prime Minister eighty seven persons who were not involved in heinous crimes have also been let free.

QUETTA: The Government has admitted the existence of the Afghan Taliban’s Quetta shura for the first time, and says it has taken them on.
In an exclusive interview with a Private TV Channel, Federal Defense Minister, Ahmad Mukhtar has said that the security forces have taken on the
Quetta shura and have damaged it to such an extent that it no longer poses any threat. When asked about any arrest, he said, “I am sure that the Pakistan
army is on job and trying to locate those who are enemies of Pakistan. We have finished them so that they don’t flight with us and create problem for us”,
he said.
Responding to another question about allegation of US about existence of Taliban Shura in Quetta, he said, we have not any real reason not to believe that. A
recent report by General Stanley McChrystal, the top US Commander in Afghanistan, alleged that the top Taliban leadership was in Quetta and that they were
master-minding attacks on international forces in Afghanistan. However, until this admission by the Defense Minister the Government has so far denied the
