a well-attended gathering of Sindhi and Baloch communities in London University Union Building, speakers
condemned the murder of Nawab Bugti by Pakistani army on 26th August 2006. The meeting was symbolically
presided over by a photo of the Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti.
Mr. Samad Baloch and Dr. Lakhu Luhana conducted the proceedings of the meeting.
A large number Sindhi and Baloch personalities in UK addressed the gathering.
Prominent among the speakers were Khan of Kalat Suleman Daud, Dr. Lakhu Luhana Secretary General World
Sindhi Congress, Dr. Naseer Dashti of Baluchistan Action Committee, Dr. Haleem Bhatti, Chairman, World Sindhi
Congress, Samad Baloch of Baluchistan Action Committee, Kadir Jatoi, Mohd Essa Baloch of Bahrain, Bibi Farhin

the brave son of the Baloch land, the speakers highlighted his role in the Baloch national resistance in Pakistan
and observed that with the sacrifice of his life in an exemplary way, Nawab Bugti became the true hero of the Baloch
nation. The speakers termed the martyrdom of Nawab as a model of sacrifice and courage for the Baloch, Sindhis
and other oppressed nations.
Speakers observed that the Baloch are facing an enemy who considers Balochistan only as a strategically placed
piece of land or a void territory over which he has every right to bring his own people to colonize. Speakers observed
that the state establishment considers the Baloch only as cattle. It is only interested in taking the wealth of
Balochistan. It has long been planning to wipe out Baloch leaders and scientifically seeks physical and moral
degradation of those who dare to resist.
Speakers urged upon the Baloch to unite in order to defeat the oppressors and exploiters of the Baloch land.
Speakers declared that the dream of Nawab and his companion will live on and the dreams of a bright future which
they cherished and for which you shed your blood will become reality.
The meeting passed various resolutions in which it was demanded that that the truth about the circumstances in
which Nawab Bugti was killed be made public. His family should be allowed to go to his grave and should be
allowed to carry out DNA tests to confirm that what is buried is actually Nawab Akbar Bugti’s body. An international
committee of jurists should be set up to investigate the murder of Nawab Bugti and the culprits responsible for his
killing should be tried and punished. The meeting paid tributes to Baloch Women Panel in their brilliant struggle for
the release of kidnapped Baloch and against the atrocities of army in Balochistan.
In a resolution it was urged upon the Pakistani Government to declare the whereabouts and release Sindhi and
Baloch political activists including Dr. Safdar Sarki, ex-chairman World Sindhi Congress, Sardar Akhtar Mengal,
Ghulam Mohammad Baloch, Wahid Kambar, Asif Baladi, Nawaz Zaour, Noora Marri, Salim Baluch, Munir Mengal
and other Baluch and Sindhi political activists.

in any shape and form until the gross violation of human rights particularly against Baloch and Sindhi people are
stopped and their national rights under UN Charter of Human Rights are restored.
UK Baloch and Sindhis paid tributes
to Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti on his
First Anniversary
10 Year old Farheen Baloch (daughter of Balochistan)“I remember this
day 26th August last year very well. During the evening on the 26th my
father was talking to a friend on the telephone, when my mother walked in
from the other room where she was watching the news and she told my
father that the pakistani army has brutally murdered Nawab Bugti.
My father was in immediate shock of this news and he straight away
started to ring his Baloch friends from various areas of the world to find
out if both Nawab Bugti and his grandson were murdered (as told by the
news).
My father started to cry and for the rest of the evening our house was in an
aura of silence and sadness. If did not understand why my father was so
emotional when receiving this news, as Nawab Bugti bared no blood tied
relation to our family. I was unaware of the characteristics of balochistan
and even up until now, I have not visited it.
My motherland and my upbringing have been in Britain. However, my father’s land is Balochistan. The following day
the situation became less intense when my father received the news that the grandson of Nawab Bugti had not been
murdered and was safe and well.
I asked my father how is the person that you cried over last night. My father replied that he was the nation’s father and
he was fighting for the freedom of Balochistan from brutal occupiers named Pakistan. I asked my father what
Balochistan was like, he replied that it was heaven on earth and its beauty would amaze anyone. My father started to
describe the landscape of Balochistan from its mountains its oasis.
Nawab Bugti for me is like my grandfather and a courageous individual who at the age of 80 and with one leg
paralysed continued to defend our land. Even though he is not with us here today but he is in our hearts and he has
made every Baloch feel a sense of pride within them. I feel proud that I am a daughter of Balochistan.
Grandfather, Today I make a promise to you that we will continue our struggle until one day Inshahallah our land will
be free from the evil that has caused us too much harm. Inshahallah one day Balochistan will have its independent
identity around the world and I hope and pray to Allah that one day I will be able to stand in my own land and raise my
arms and say “this is my very own watan this my own very Balochistan”.
Balochistan Rights Movement general secratry Mehran Baloch was not able to attend gathering. However, his speech
was delivered by a colleague. Following is a copy of Mehran Baluch's speech.
I regret for not being able to attend this gathering today, please accept my apologies.
We must observe 4 days mourning, because the battle of Karbala (Tratani) started on 22nd of August and continued
until 26. From 22nd to 26, what happened with Nawab Bugti and his companions is a mystery and if any place in
Balochistan can be equated with Karbala that is the battle of Tratani, where Nawab Bugti and his companions (Baloch
Sarmachaars) have fought four long days battle with Pakistan’s Punjabi army. “Those four days in which Nawab Bugti
fought against aggressor (the Pakistani army) forces should be remembered as tragic and black days in the history of
Baloch nation,”
Aug 26 was a tragic and black day for the Baloch people as ‘Dada-i-Baloch (grandfather) Nawab Akbar Bugti’ had
sacrificed his life while fighting for independence of Balochistan for the dignity of Baloch people.
“Baloch nation should express hatred against shameless Pakistani army and especially against the present military
rulers and their stooges/agents involved in the killing of the ‘Grandfather of Baloch’ and hundreds of other Baloch
elderly, children and women.
Although the government had announced the death of Nawab Bugti, no one had seen his body or confirmed his death.
“How can we accept that he is not among us? Nawab Bugti is alive in the hearts of the Baloch people.”
Therefore we still do not consider Nawab Bugti perished he is still of victim of Pakistani army’s mischief, for us he is
still alive yet missing. Thus we are not celebrating an anniversary of death but we are mourning the first year of his
lose.
The sufferings and sacrifices by Nawab Bugti and his Friends cannot be quantified but must be acknowledged and
appreciated by every patriot Baloch who considers himself as a Baloch with dignity.
We must not forget the 40 brave Baloch who sacrificed their lives protecting our National leader. Some are still in
Pakistani army captivity as claimed by the Pakistan army in August last year.
The Punjabi army of Pakistan the mohajir general (criminal) will be held accountable for the atrocities and human
rights violation committed in Balochistan.
Nawab Akbar Bugti had a dream, a dream of unity and of self-rule. For having such rebellious dreams, the occupying
forces could not allow a 79-year-old man to have a natural death. He was targeted to kill these dreams and his
ideology. The enemy has succeeded in killing the man, but his dream lives on. These dreams have spread to every
corners of the world. Today every Baloch carries these dreams in their hearts. I hope even each one of us sitting in
this room is carry the dreams of Nawab Bugti.
The martyrdom of Shaheed Dr Khalid Ali Baloch and Shaheed Dil Jan Baloch on 8 August 2007 is a proof that these
dreams are not dead. Our mothers and sisters with our youngest have come to streets to express their solidarity with
the revolutionary forces of Balochistan.
Today if we want to honour and respect Nawab Bugti, we must follow his footprints. We must honour his unity call and
unite for a single programme that should have a signal objective Baloch Nation must have the will and courage to
revenge his lose and the only revenge, which can heal our wounds and ease our pain, is to get our lost independence.
In end, we appeal the international community and the British govt to press the Pakistani government to treat the
surviving captures and baloch political prisoners in accordance with Geneva conventions for prisoners of war
