India expresses concern over military action in
Balochistan

Expressing concern over the military action being carried out in Balochistan by the Government of
Pakistan, Spokesperson of the Minister of External Affairs Navtej Sarna said that India hoped Pakistan
would exercise restraint and take recourse to peaceful discussions to address the grievances of the
people there.

Sarna said on Tuesday that India had been watching with concern the spiralling violence in
Balochistan and the heavy military action being carried out there, including the use of helicopter
gunships and jet fighters by Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Baloch nationalist parties have called for strike in different parts of the province to protest
against the alleged activities of law enforcement agencies in Kohlu and Dera Bugti areas and
construction of the Kalabagh Dam.

The provincial government has, keeping in mind, the tense situation, deployed heavy contingents of
police and law enforcement agencies at important roads in provincial capital Quetta.

Secretary General of the Jamhoori Watan Party (JWP) Agha Shahid Bughti was quoted by Geo TV as
saying that the strike was being observed in Hub, Dera Bugti, Khuzdar, Turbat, Gwadar, Kharan,
Naushki and Jaffarabad. (ANI)
